Let the Wayland-rox-Mir-sux shitstorm begin... Again...

As we can see - Mir has much faster pace of development. Any doubts?
Wayland after 5 years: simple demos, Qt and GTK with artifacts and glitches.
Mir after 10-11 months: working demo UI and fluid Qt.

Mir uses the work done upstream like XWayland customized as XMir, thanks to Wayland by 2012 it had plenty of critical questions answered of what and how should be done to move away from X, much better drivers than in 2008 and a stack of software that changed to support Wayland which with minor or no effort suits Mir too.
So yes, Mir took off faster (though it still won't be ready till 2014), but it would have taken like 3 more years if not for Wayland, and if Canonical helped back in 2010 Wayland would be done by 2012 I guess.
So suggesting that the Canonical devs are somehow more agile/smart/whatever is asinine.

Isn't that just a full screen QML canvas?

Ugh. Another tablet OS running on a desktop computer. DO NOT WANT. Hopefully they have more plans and just haven't gotten to it yet.

Mir doesn't even have windows yet, everything is full screen.

Eh? These looks fairly smooth to me and they go back couple of years.

If you are running just a simple QML application like the Unity Touch interface then there's very little for the compositor to do. Try floating windows, resizing, moving, closing... etc. How about remote windows over network or color management or actually having stable interfaces?

...nothing that Wayland wouldn't already have. How about that GTK+ backend or maybe even EFL? I wonder how much work done by Wayland team on Qt does Mir use... I wouldn't be suprised if it was similar to XMir where they essentially did nothing, just forked off XWayland.

Before I get worried: Unity 8/Next/Whatever is supposed to have windows and a desktop (on desktop machines), doesn't it? Oo
