It's a fantastic photo management tool and includes a very user friendly Photo Editor for common editing tasks. Really recommended!
DigiKam is pretty good, but it's also pretty heavy and has a lot of options that are not well-suited for regular users.

I see, I just found it reading Wiki about paint.net. Thanks for the explanation!

We actually might get GIMP 3 before GTA6!

You can also perform most of those operations from the Gwenview image browser application. I've been meaning to take the plunge and use Digikam for serious photo management.

To reiterate what other people said, I've been using the GIMP 3.0 pre-release flatpak for over a year. It rarely crashes; sometimes I get a dialogue saying something failed but the program continues to work. I've only filed a handful of bugs. It seems to have lots of plug-ins built in already.

I'm expecting a fully working and commercially viable nuclear fusion reactor to be on the market before GIMP 3.0.

I did that in Gwenview a couple times. It is really useful.

For just an editor, yes. But since it's basically the defacto photo management tool and the average consumer has A LOT of photos to manage, the average user either has or should already have Digikam installed 😇

True, but we were talking about photo editors, not photo management tools. So in that sense, my point still stands. But if we take photo management into account, then you're totally right.
