Americans are famous for spewing "capitalism is contact sport" crap while living the totally opposite corporativist life. Their lectures about dirty commies are hilarious now, when "commies" are producing basically everything. Most YT "enterpreneur" channels own basically NOTHING wihtin technology stack, from equipment used to network infrastructure etc. Heck, even marketing and book keeping is being taken out of their hands. But they have so much brainfarts to share on "real free market".

Have you seen latest Elon's Tesla FSD ? Thing drives for many miles without assistance. Practically IMMEDIATELY it will start degrading price of human drivers. What will you do with all those new unemployed drivers, from truckers to taxi, even uber drivers ? Just USA has 500k truckers IIRC, that are barely making ends meet as it is.

I once read a darknet-forum post from a guy who claimed he just came from some islamic training camp. He talked about the freedom to go to islamic Starbucks with your AK47 and nobody giving a fuck and how that freedom is so important to him. I think many (far from the majority) US citizens would be jealous of that freedom... Who needs the freedom to live in dignity if you have weapons?

I know I was a bit harsh there, but I don't really get to see the usefulness of that project. Progress is also ultra-slow there.

With the recent source code leak, your statement might be true where legality is required. But you could tinker around with the "real thing" instead of using its imitation if it is not nowadays. But the ReactOS community could also profit from that leak to accelerate their own development (to get a better understanding of the Windows internals, for legal reasons they shouldn't copy code).

As long this "real thing" is illegal it doesn't matter. ReactOS is clean room implementation without legal issues.

ReactOS was what I wanted on my P3-1200, but last I tested it BSOD'd (I feel the history!). Not long now and I can try again, maybe even contribute.

NY and CA are the two largest contributors to the federal government's revenue, and they put in much more than they take out. It's actually the red southern states that take out more money than they contribute, so they're the ones relying on federal bailout money provided by the blue states if that's how you want to phrase that.
