So if an employee of a corporation does a useful thing, this automatically means the corporation is not evil? Yeah, now all my worries are gone - no corporation at all is evil! Everybody thinking otherwise is far removed from corpo-logic. Also, all wayland is shit, only corpo-ui is good

      .7z

well someone should tell these gnome developers to add Zstandard/Zstd

the reason is really .zip is totally outdated and obsolete and .tar.xz is only used in linux and mac

and well .7z you need to install 7zip in windows... and no one knows why microsoft add this open standard to windows ..
Both 7z and zstd (and xz) are supported on Windows on a preview update of August 23. Not sure if it's part of the latest official version already.

        • Microsoft employes many FOSS developers. It looks like they invest more in FOSS than Windows. Maybe we will see Microsoft Linux replacing Windows some day.

          • Given that Microsoft already has a Linux distribution for servers, plus WSL integrated into Windows made the hell freeze twice! I can see in the future of Microsoft doing two operating systems: Xbox Gaming based on Windows, and Professional for anything else based on Linux. Also Microsoft is going more and more doing cloud based stuff. But we are looking into next 2 decades or so at earliest...

its 100% sure for me. the question is really why [email protected] let these people operate in this forum.

always a pleasure to share it.

cryptome, sci-hub, phoronix, are basically the only sites I know that survived. Massive qudos to michael for keeping going.

              We lost n-gate last year.

it got really bad before https was prevelant- they were widespread manipulating http streams at the ISP level. google and bing now do massive volumes of ghost banning.

windows is basically abandware at this point. Far to much technical debt to survive in a modern demanding and hostile computing environment.

everyone getting all hyped up by this XZ thing, but in many ways its a good signed that someone picked it up so soon, log4j and nginx backdoors had been actively exploited for years before they were spotted, this XZ commit barely survived a couple of months, windows RDP and netbios have active RCEs dating back decades.

Its where content gets deleted for everyone except those who wrote it or read it already. Means those who wrote it and already read it do not know nobody else can see it - the content becomes like a "ghost".

e.g. I can still find plenty of torrent services - but unless you were around for the glory days of tpb and silk road that content will never be visible.

honestly this really sounds very very evil. even more evil than shadow ban in social media like facebook.

well we have 2 large organisation structures who cause this its for one the evil governments who make the laws for this and on the other sie the big monopole tech companies like apple,google,microsoft...

i am pretty sure the average joe means the small people who have the democratic majority of course never would admit or want such a evil system.
