my educated guess is that he was not bribed to "suffer" and step away instead most of the time they where blackmailed and do whatever these evil people want him to do because of the blackmail. they already say that he was pressured by multible people i am pretty sure that they did more than pressure him means they actively blackmailed him.

to me it looks like the orginal maintainer of the git tree is innocent...

well you are a Archlinux user and its a rolling distro means you where more or less the only people hit by this. all non rolling distros like fedora or debian or ubuntu or whatever it never landet in any stable release...

you hate xz now i unterstand but you need to unterstand that you and rolling releases like archlinux are part of the problem to.

if you want security agaist supply chain attacks you should not use a rolling distro like arch linux.

Actually, it was only debian and redhat effected, the two biggest so called "stable" distros... -NONE- of the rolling release distro's were effected at all. They all have unstable, testing and stable branches -exactly- for this reason....

Both 7z and zstd (and xz) are supported on Windows on a preview update of August 23. Not sure if it's part of the latest official version already.

it was in debian unstable and i think debian testing but not in debian 12 stable release.
it was in fedora development branch(41) and it did not even hit fedora 40 beta...

well i am pretty sure you can handle ARCH right just look how Valve manage it for the steam deck these people never even come into contact of the rolling release factor.

i honestly don't know. its a interesting question. i think for debian you can easily answer it they lag of "paid" developer manpower

for the redhat distros the question is much more complex they have paid developer manpower

MS is doing right now to OpenAI what they did to Canonical, which is what they did to Nokia....You'd think these morons would know better than to put in with MS by now, it's a death sentence....

EDIT: EEE all over again. MS recently announced they don't need OpenAI at all, next step is exterminate...

That's because most don't have the money and time to got after Microsoft, so it don't go to court and is not an official conviction. Also did you just look up for the US? The EU in example sanctioned and fined Microsoft multiple times.

you are right and it is plain and simple so that everything what microsoft touches will die a slow and painfull death.

and of course it is FUD and EEE all over again... Ubuntu Canonical and also OpenAI is death by now.
