So basically the opposite of everything that was promised (and subsequently parroted gleefully by all the talking heads in the tech media) about ART.

I mean Google was promising 10-mllion-billion-times performance boost with ART. And we heard about all the horrors of JIT'd code and how Dalvik is basically the equivalent of a Perl interpreter for your phone.

From my experience, yeah (though I don't recall anyone making claims to the extent you make) I don't expect things to stay as they are, however. ART should provide the promised benefits eventually.
Considering all the changes that went into lollipop, and the qa measures the android team apparently takes, I'm not that surprised.
ART was the direction they had to go. Not so much for performance reasons but certainly for battery life.

AFAI understand none of all those people is just maintaning/reviewing patches for wayland (and related projects). Something like linus does for the kernel in a way (gets payed to do just that). Maybe it's not needed but pekka complained in a way in the last paragraph hence my comment/worry.

BTW since you answer questions. Is it true that people are working on a WL remote protocol (not related to RDP or whatever else). Was it just an idea and will never get to production or we will see something when the desktop stuff is there???

Unfortunately in the 18 months since that proof-of-concept was posted, none of the people who absolutely critically require remote Wayland have taken it up and turned it into something more polished. But it already works quite well: http://people.freedesktop.org/~krh/rolling-hash/
