Nice one There's quite a few people who have been wondering about that since Q4 2007, so Mr Bridgman definitely is very experienced.

Oh, there is no doubt about that. I am sure bridgman has walked many a fine line along the NDAs that he has had to sign, requirements to present a "good" face for AMD, the desire to support his employer, and the times that his employer's decision has frustrated him. The corporate world can be difficult sometimes. I, for one am grateful for his insights, although I am certain that on some of his posts he has had to re-read them several times and then wondered if it was the best thing for him to have said (but I may be wrong on that - he is probably much smarter than I am and certainly more tactful).

But that can be said for anyone directly employed by the companies/organizations that post here. I am familiar with NDAs as well as the myriads of other agreements that have to be signed for these sorts of things (I have long since lost count of how many I have had to sign). So their posts are always invaluable because they have to take the time to think thoroughly through what they post to ensure that they have not violated an NDA, have not been disparaging to their company (to include offending trollers), and provide correct and verifiable information. Anyone who works for any of these companies and organizations who takes the time to post here, I have the utmost respect for. They have courage. One wrong post (especially in today's cancel culture and pandemic induced economics) risk losing their livelihood.

We're still trying... 6900XT sampling was very limited and a lot of Windows reviewers didn't get HW either.

See...Chief of AMD Operations with Phoronix. You sell yourself short. You would make an excellent ambassador. It would cut the "leadership" requirements - and you know what I mean.

I got offered a 10% increase in salary if I would be team lead. Team lead involves dealing with project managers. I promptly (and politely) turned it down. Why get a 10% increase in salary for a 300% increase in headache. I enjoy interacting with the customers. I do not enjoy the corporate part of it.

Ambassador would definitely set you up for retirement. I have retired from one job already - ironically enough, I am making more money working for a company that is advising my former employer on how do the things that I did when I worked for my former employer...what a gig. As we say where I grew up - free chicken!

Perhaps some of the enterprise optimizations will trickle down to the desktop space. As far as Austin goes, you don't live there. You commute there. Austin and Houston are the two cities with an influx of coastal carpetbaggers.

I remember the Governor of Texas issuing a stay-at-home order for the entire state of California, in order to try to slow down that influx.

My former employer was a government agency...what did you expect? Elections have consequences.

Thank you so much for your kind remarks - it made my evening. I leave you with a quote and an opinion.

Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…’

And this forum is a democracy. Who knows what people really want? Many of the issues discussed on this forum are discussed because of democracy and people fire each other up because of opinions on the best way to do things. Passion and beliefs are good - personal attacks I can do without.

Anyone who has worked in the "fed" space understands this very, very well. The term "beltway bandits" has often been used to describe the various consulting and services industries that end up being paid at market rates rather than at some of the GS-xx salaries that do not always reward competency.

well yes "Government" what can i expect from that ? yes... nothing.
I am really depressed about Government and Politics.

many people tell me go into politics but if you even go near politics strange and anoying things happen to you
they tell you in school (what is just a lie) how Democratic Election works how to vote and so one and so one
but in reality it is just bullying and subversion (sapotage and kill your family and friends) and even blackmailing you know the old standard way of doing politics blackmail a politician with this pedophilia blackmail thing to make you a pupped to your pupped master overlord.
There are 3 variants politicians from the evil side they just pick a pedo finance his election campaign to bring him into position of power. or if the politician is from the good side they build up a honey trap to set you up into such a situation they can use against you. and the 3. variant is to install childporn on your computer and then give a hind to the police.

this is how politics realy work: blackmail, subversion, bullying...

and you know what is totally impossible in politics: 2 people with 2 different opinions meet and talk have a discussion and then ***agree to disagree*** and keep their own opinion and let the other side their own opinion.

thats not possible because the Left side like antiFA then claim: "no tollerance to the intollerant" and then burn down your car and house and try to assassinate you...

they always claim the political right side is the problem but if you do statistic on political crimes it is like 99 to 1
for every crime from right wing people you can find 99 crimes from left.
(sure the left disagree here at this point)

so yes "Elections have consequences" and politics looks like the worst place to have a job in.
