Glibc 2.29 Is Offering Up Some Nice Performance Improvements

With NPB's "embarrassingly parallel" synthetic benchmark, Glibc 2.29 yielded much faster performance than its predecessor...

But the EP test was an exception for these NASA benchmarks with not seeing much change in the other test cases -- or very slight in the case of the Scalar Penta-diagonal Solver (SP.A).

In other scientific workloads, the improvement with Glibc 2.29 ranged from being flat to some modest improvements.

FLAC and LAME MP3 audio encoding performance improved a bit.
