With the Redis performance the numbers were largely flat but also a few small improvements with GCC 8.1.

The NGINX web server performance was largely the same.

Overall, the GCC 8.1 performance does appear to be in good shape and in a number of tests did show measurable performance improvements over GCC 7.3. Long story short, of the Intel and AMD systems tested with Ubuntu 18.04 x86_64, the biggest winner was Intel Skylake hardware seeming to show performance improvements most often but also the AMD Zen performance did improve too in a number of the tests carried out for this article today.
