Radeon R300 Gallium3D Benchmarks On Mesa 10.1 Git
While the ATI Radeon X1000 (R500) series graphics processors are about eight years old, there's still requests from time-to-time to run new benchmarks to show how the open-source Gallium3D driver is working for the ancient graphics hardware powered by the R300g code-base. For those into old ATI R500 GPUs, here's some benchmarks of the latest code.
As I had out an old ThinkPad T60 this week for some unrelated benchmarks, I decided to see how well the Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics processor is running when comparing Ubuntu 13.10 (with Mesa 9.2) to Mesa 10.1-devel, incorporating the changes in the brand new Mesa 10.0 release plus a couple weeks of other changes. There hasn't been much R300g actively recently with nearly all activity being around RadeonSI and some improvements left to R600g.
To no real surprise, there hasn't been much change in the Mobility Radeon X1400 performance when comparing Mesa 9.2 and 10.1-devel. However, there are several Ubuntu OpenGL game benchmarks on OpenBenchmarking.org via 1312037-SO-MOBILITYR66 for those vintage hardware owners.
