    "SteamOS Holo" 40.53%.
    Linux 1.97%

Let's see how much a Linux laptop/desktop has:
    1.97 * (1-0.4) = 1,182 %

Good result. In 10 years Linux desktop will reach 2% .

SteamOS is Linux, and it is a desktop distro too since it has KDE.

I hope Linux is replaced by a proper open-source microkernel, multiserver OS by then.

I know, I know. Steam Deck is not a handheld, but a desktop/laptop.

And anyone claiming otherwise is a troll. .

BTW Since you can easily install Linux on Nintendo Switch and use a keyboard and mouse, surely you count it as a desktop/laptop too. Right?

The success of Linux on handhelds, routers, switches, smartphones, washing machines and kuchan robots shows that as Linux is provided by the manufacturer in a ready-made form and it is the manufacturer of the device who takes care of it, it is usable.

Likewise on servers. It has 24/7 care by paid professionals so it also works very well.

Only on destop it is bad. Here the user is the admin. Distributions are universal and are supposed to work on any hardware. Full of everything to choose from. And it turns out that all this works badly and is not able to convince anyone except hobbyists, professional IT specialists who are paid to know Linux.

The Deck is exposing a lot of people to Linux who otherwise never would have even considered using it. I wouldn't be surprised if it got some people to permanently convert to Linux, even if not for gaming purposes.

This graph shows the market share of desktop operating systems worldwide based on over 5 billion monthly page views.

For those of you aren't interested in fuzzy math.

Prebuilt PCs with Windows preinstalled are not Windows desktop either, since people didn't choose to install it.

Wanna take them out too? Keep it fair since you are so impartial and objectively neutral.
