The problem with these Edge iso's, is that they're not released for Mate and Xfce editions. Only for Cinnamon.

Seriously though, why not just switch to the newest LTS kernel for all releases and do away with the now crusty 5.15?

6.2 is the kernel choice of Ubuntu 23.04, and is provided as "hwe" backport to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Thus no extra repository or maintenance needed for Linux Mint (a Ubuntu-based distro) to incorporate kernel 6.2.

On the other hand, you are right that it is not an LTS kernel. Anyone who use this "edge" installation will subject to further kernel upgrade to whatever the kernel choice of Ubuntu 23.10, in whatever timing Canonical decide.

6.2 already reached end of life. If they want LTS, it is 6.1. Latest stable is 6.5. There are no other options. Will they be back-porting all security fixes to 6.2?

I am, just like you, using 6.5.5 right now on Ubuntu 23.10. And I will be on 6.6 as soon as it is released in 2-3 weeks.
