So while it's disappointing news I'd rather it be postponed than them becoming burnt out. Perhaps it raises the question whether Red Hat should put more resources into it?

There might be good reasons for DNF5 not being enabled by default with no strings attached to the next RHEL release, of which I would be ignorant. Though, I don't see how it being in Fedora 40 have to necessarily force it on RHEL if it turns out that it is indeed not ready in time when that time comes. After all, it'll be continued to be developed after the Fedora 40 release.
Is there any reason I shouldn't fully move to DNF5 on my system when Fedora 40 gets out? I've been eagerly excited about DNF5 for a long time now.

Why? Because its outputs are much better presented and the commands are sanely intuitive. It's nice to use. Preferably I'd like to see a table with current version and the proposed version to upgrade (in the same line). The current output is decent and certainly better than others, but still lacking in my opinion. I don't remember if this was improved with DNF5.
I agree that DNF is painfully slow, but DNF5 fixes that. What exactly is it that you think DNF5 is not much better at? Its performance improvements surely aren't exaggerated, so it must be something else you don't like.

Saying that DNF is bad, period, because of this one flaw is not really fair. I think it's more nuanced, but if your opinion is that DNF is garbage simply because of its current performance, that's fine.
But since performance is the only gripe you seem to have with it, DNF5 should not be "piece of shit technology" according to your criteria. Do you agree with this?
