        Probably for a few years. Development takes place with gtk4, gtk3 is bugfix only. Porting gtk3 to gtk4 is easier than 2->3.

        Gtk2 is already EOL upstream. Git receives some backported fixes now and then, but no releases have been made for 2 years now.

          This is somewhat irresponsible. You don't push beta software in stable OS releases because of the better ui toolkit.
