            I agree that Gentoo always looks very time-intensive to me, but it is interesting to note that Chrome OS is based on Gentoo. So apparently, Google doesn't mind spending the extra time.

              Honestly Gentoo is mostly about niche architectures for me nowadays: on ppc64 I'm basically maintaining my own distro anyway and Gentoo makes my life so much easier in that regard. When I was younger it had more to do with the learning opportunities but nowadays I use Arch Linux whenever I can for of its ease of use and convenience.
