    How much more of an effort is it for Canonical to extend support for a non-LTS kernel (6.2) instead of just leeching on the free support work done by the kernel.org team for a LTS kernel (6.1)?

      Ubuntu 23.04 is not an LTS release, so going for a 6.2 kernel makes sense to support the latest hardware. And they are not "leeching". When Canonical rolls out new kernel releases with OEM fixes/patches, it benefits everyone.

        The main users of this kernel update will not be the ones who run it on Ubuntu 23.04, but rather those who will use it on 22.04.3. I understand that the Ubuntu Kernel team have restricted resources, and thus selecting an LTS kernel even for an interim release would reduce the burden on the kernel team.

        IMO it would be of great importance if the kernel team could start to release kernels for the LTS versions of Ubuntu faster. We who use 22.04 just got the 5.19 kernel in February, prior to that we had to resort to the almost 16 months old 5.15 kernel. Would've been great to have the 6.1 kernel now instead. (And yes, I know about the mainline repo).
