What would be epic is if Microsoft created a Linux desktop environment. But I know this isn't the purpose of CBL-Mariner.

It would not be surprising if there’s a research build of a Linux based windows somewhere at Microsoft.

In my ideal world Microsoft would be contributing to Wine.

Sure. But wine isn't a DE. For me, Gnome is a static schedule product that ships with slipped bugs because it is developer oriented. KDE is too complex for my minute brain despite being user oriented. The rest of the options are missing features. Something more user oriented than Gnome but less complex than KDE would have been great for the Linux desktop.
I have no need for Wine and there are enough native applications for my workflow but the DEs are not good enough for my workflow. The Windows desktop environment is much suited in this area. In reality, most software I need is Linux software.
