        Wasted development effort and a maintenance burden for a protocol that's crippled by design and should not exist, especially given that it can't fulfill all of Wine's (and as such, Windows') requirements for full proper functionality.

        You know, like fucking querying absolute window positions? Can't even do something so basic.

        And this is a problem by design because of the stubborn idiots who designed it. It's not something you can fix with a patch (even though it would be easy), because it will get rejected since it goes against their hysterical paranoid design and pseudo "security".

            i agree that the security stuff is bullshit because it's too strict, but they're slowly improving and overcoming the limits.

            While comparing Wayland to X11 you will see a lot of performance improvements and a more "clean" protocol, while using it.

            X11 is ancient, held together by duct tape, we shouldn't reject a more modern solution but aim to improve it
