Well the fact they shoved the bar to the top and put a dock on the bottom tells me this is someone's heavily customized desktop and that it probably has no representation theming or otherwise towards the defaults.

Maybe they should share some official screenshot in a blog post, to reassure people then.

There is a clear and consistent design language on display that is very modern and flat... it consequently goes against all usability considerations.

Sure, Plasma is extremely configurable, but retaining sane default settings from the previous DE iteration shouldn't be that hard, even at an experimental stage. That is, unless there is a drive to change to this... thing. This indicates a direction and it is not a good sign.

Have you verified that those design settings are the guidelines for Plasma 6 or is it just speculation based on that screenshot? Because there is a lot of difference. This is not just a new version, this is a Qt6 ported version that is still being worked on, so that some details aren't there yet, it's normal.

Does KDE5 allow to separately theme its own systray/status icons though? Someone made a claim earlier in the discussion and so far there's been just a confirmation that it's only theoretically possible in the upcoming KDE6.
