    The good thing about KDE applications is that they share a lot of libraries which are only loaded once in memory. So, using for example dolphin+kate+okular+gwenview with many windows is using less ram than using nautilus+gedit+evince+eog with the same windows, in my experience. Of course the difference is not so important and you should choose whatever suits you (I personally use KDE plasma but I prefer using most of the GNOME apps instead of the KDE's equivalent)
