SciK VDPAU lacks features. While VP9 decoding was recently added, there's no 10bit video support and there's no support for anything other than X. That's why the default on Nvidia GPUs is NVDEC, while VAAPI is the best choice for AMD and Intel.

aufkrawall Considering RPi support is still there, I don't think VDPAU will be gone from mpv anytime soon. It doesn't cause issues, it isn't a constant source of annoyance for the devs. It generally works, it's just... stagnant.
