Nice try, but your example has flaws: Linux is newer than BSD and what you wrote was correct years ago when BSD was dominating over Linux. Linux proved to be superior and that's why it replaced BSD.

You're going to have to install a bunch of updates before using it anyway, so why not just keep the core install small?
OpenBSD prefers to keep these things in the default installation, as they're very big fans on auditing literally every line of code in the system. Keeping these things part of the default install makes it easier for them to say "You're installing something that has definitely been checked from top-to-bottom".

                Should've done this sooner

Reality check little one. FreeBSD derivatives power PS3, PS4. Ever heard of Isilon (EMC) storage (Apple bought a big such storage system)? Juniper routers? Cisco

Take it from someone who works with Linuxes for a living. Linux is in NO way superior. Hit any Linux with a SYN flood and you bring it to it's knees way easier than a FreeBSD server. Does Linux have a production ready Next Generation filesystem? btrfs ate my files twice so no.

I engineer and administer large scale Linux-systems for a living but it's a mess far beyond most self-proclaimed sysadmins realize. No Linux distro even comes close to the consistency of FreeBSD.
Just because OpenBSD devs have persisted (quite stupidly up to this point IMO) in having Apache in their base (they are quite alone in this) does not BSD irrelevant make. At least for the FreeBSD derivatives, it's never been as busy as it is right now so now you can go back up on your soap box and cry about it. I've just shown how wrong you are and now everyone knows it too

                      Good.

While we are at it, remove the BSD userland the BShitD kernel. Those crap are far more bloated then apache so should be removed more so then apache.

Replace them with GNU and Linux.
