It looks like the spambots are copying snippets from other threads and pasting into relatively fresh treads. The OT factor should make them fairly easy to spot. Unless it's a "meatbot" that select a generic comment that would fit pretty much everywhere...

So these spammers always post using hidden URLs. Are the URLs visible to Googlebot and other spiders? If so, then the spammers are SEOs.

There are plugins to block spammers from registering as well as checking IP's against the master spammer database...go to stopforumspam.com.

As a lot of spammers are originating from China and Russia it may be necessary to block the .cn and .ru domains from registering as well
