My wishes for X.Org / X11 and its ecosystem:
    • Port GIMP from GTK 2 to 3, then to 4
    • Port Synaptic from GTK 3 to 4
    • Port LibreOffice from GTK 3 to 4
    • For GNOME to stop depend in XWayland
    • For GNOME to stop depend on any X11 libraries
    • Never to see X.Org Server or X11 again!

Hmmm this is an odd thing to me... why host a conference for something that so many people are claiming is fully dead and buried?

Guess the rumors of its demise are highly inflated :P

Have a look at last years timetable:
The X.Org Developer's Conference is the event for developers working on all things Open graphics (Linux kernel, Mesa, DRM, Wayland, X11, etc.). WineConf is the annual technical meeting for developers and supporters of the Wine Project. FOSSXR is for everyone interested in VR/AR/MR and Free software. This year, the three events are being held together.  The event is free to attend and open to the general public.

If you scan the topics you will see there is not much X11 talks between them, but a lot of generel infrastructure like MESA, kernel, new hardware,...

There is no real progress or developer manpower in X11 anymore, the conference just kept its old name.

Monty Python "Bring out your dead", Revisited:
Dead Collector: Bring out yer dead!
[A WAYLAND DEV appears with a (seemingly) dead XORG over his shoulder]
            WAYLAND DEV: Here's one.
            Dead Collector: Nine pence.
            "Dead" XORG: I'm not dead.
            Dead Collector: What?
WAYLAND DEV: Nothing. [hands the collector his money] Here's your nine pence.
            "Dead" XORG: I'm not dead!
Dead Collector: 'Ere, he says he's not dead.
            WAYLAND DEV: Yes he is.
            "Dead" XORG: I'm not.
            Dead Collector: He isn't.
WAYLAND DEV: Well, he will be soon, he's very ill.
            "Dead" XORG: I'm getting better.
WAYLAND DEV: No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment.
Dead Collector: Well, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations.
"Dead" XORG: I don't want to go on the cart.
WAYLAND DEV: Oh, don't be such a baby.
Dead Collector: I can't take him.
            "Dead" XORG: I feel fine.
WAYLAND DEV: Oh, do me a favor.
            Dead Collector: I can't.
WAYLAND DEV: Well, can you hang around for a couple of minutes? He won't be long.
Dead Collector: I promised I'd be at the Robinsons'. They've lost nine today.
WAYLAND DEV: Well, when's your next round?
            Dead Collector: Thursday.
"Dead" XORG: I think I'll go for a walk.
WAYLAND DEV: You're not fooling anyone, you know. Isn't there anything you could do?
"Dead" XORG: I feel happy. I feel happy.
[The collector paces for an idea, then whacks the WAYLAND PROJECT with his club, solving the problem]
XORG: Ah, thank you very much.
Dead Collector: Not at all. See you on Thursday.
            XORG: Right.

              From X.org:
X.Org Foundation's (or X.Org for short) purpose is to research, develop, support, organize, administrate, standardize, promote, and defend a free and open accelerated graphics stack and the developers and users thereof. This stack includes, but is not limited to, the following projects: DRM, Mesa, Wayland and the X Window System.
Plus everything freedesktop.org is part of X.org.
