Mir isnt an issue because its another display server. Its an issue because of the reasons it was created and at the time it was created. Canonical tried to draw proprietary support towards Mir while ignoring Wayland which is a snake move to force users onto Mir. The technical reasons Mir was created consisted of naive and unexplored rhetoric.
The whole thing seemed very snake-like and persuaded a lot of people that Canonical is bad.

Mir still won't be done by the next LTS, 16.04?!? This is pathetic. This Wayland/Mir stuff has been a headlining desktop Linux change for years with very little results. Linux is still great for servers, but for desktop/workstation/gaming it seems to be falling further behind than the competition.

Even if that were remotely true, it says nothing about desktops in use. If his numbers are somehow calculated via access to Ubuntu's package repos, all Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and even Linux Mint users would be included as well – none of them eyeing Mir.
