Still a lot missing for r600. I wonder if it's only delayed or will never be supported.

Today or tomorrow GL_ARB_arrays_of_arrays will be pushed.

R600(g) in Catalyst support OpenGL 4.5 so I think in MESA is only delay.

            OpenGL 4.1 support gone.
            OpenGL 4.2 almost done.

There is still some work left on OpenGL 4.3, but once that is done then OpenGL ES 3.1 will be done too at the same time.
After that OpenGL 4.4 is close to be done too.
OpenGL 4.5 has some work, but is not far away either.

            But then we need Vulcan.

I wonder if there will ever be a point where Mesa doesn't play catchup anymore.

"this release formerly known as Mesa 10.7 but will most certainly be renamed to Mesa 11.0"

Emil already submitted this commit yesterday, already r-b too by Ilia.
                It's in the mailing list.

I think that'll only be the GLES3.1 stuff - I don't think it will enable it for desktop GL which is more complicated - if I've read the mailing list right

Hopefully R600 support will catch up and not become abandoned for OpenGL 4. However, once all the major drivers reach OpenGL 4.2.. it should be easy sailing for basically all Linux games, including the AAA ones because I don't think there are any that require full 4.3 or newer yet, except for maybe a stray extension here or there but even then higher GLs are already partially implemented in Mesa and drivers.
