I have no problem installing this driver but it is incompatible with one of my video card.

The HD2600 pro 512M AGP is not compatible with this driver nor is it with any other even radeonHD!! I'M stuck with vesa in Linux! I know for a fact that this driver work very well with the PCIE version of this video card.

    Description of problem.

When X start the screen go Black and the keyboard die. Yes I really said that the keyboard die! Impossible to light on the led light for Num, Caps, or scroll. Everything is frozen.

My best guess is that the driver configured my card has a PCIE card instead of an AGP card. I reallllly hope that ATI/AMD fix this compatibility issue fast before I give up on this card.

i've given up on using 8.01.... i've tried it and tried to fix the libc.so.6 error in many ways but i haven't been able to do it.... now i've switched to the radeon driver, at least for the x200m, and i'm quite happy with it. the 8.01 is really a delusion. this is the first release after 8.41 that doesn't work on the x200m....

    Hi,
I finally managed to build the rpm packages here on my Fedora 8 using modified scripts from phorogit.
Now I've installed them, loaded the fglrx module, restarted X with the same working xorg.conf I had before and the result of $fglrxinfo is

    Code:
    display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: http://www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
    OpenGL version string: 1.4 (2.1 Mesa 7.0.1)

    Segmentation Fault
I suspect something went wrong, but I really can't figure it out... I rebuilt-reinstalled the rpms but it didn't help.

This is my experience with 8.1 on HD3850 Hardware.

On Ubuntu 7.10 everything including Compiz works as expected. Video playback does have a lot of tearing with or without Compiz.

I cannot use Control-Alt Backspace to restart X. It locks up every time.

On a side note. Compiz looks much better than it did on the Nvidia 6800GS that I replaced with this card.

Hardy Heron up to date - Catalyst 8.1 from repo - no Compiz yet due the Xserver 1.4 compat but:

2D capabilities are heavily improved over 7.12 - I test this with Inkscape ( great use of Blur filter )

Also 3D present some very good performance vs 7.12 (visible with the free look) - I tested with Quake Wars, Quake 4 and True Combat Elite.

On Ctrl + ALt + Backspace => Blank screen + Freeze

Downside is you don't have a fancy bootsplash but it no longer hangs when logging out of KDE/Gnome..been using this since Mandriva 2007.1 with fglrx 8.38..
Works fine in Mandriva 2008 with the last 5 versions of fglrx..
Did try that... no use. Still left w/ nowhere going blac/nk screen.

just pulled it in through livna updates, and STILL can't use 1400x1050.
what a bloody disaster this driver is, reverting back to vesa....
I'm getting soooo tired of this

I see in the logs that it does detect the 1400x1050 panel but somehow doesn't set the resolution. This smells just like the same bug that radeonhd had a while ago. They solved it in mere days, so AMD, please send an e-mail to these developers and ask them how to solve it, they know how!

Don't know, whether I should post this issue to the other thread, since it touches not only 8.45 version of the driver, but anyway.

The problem is, after ATI added AIGLX support, my pc keeps hanging while executing any 3d application. Under "any" I mean any application which uses opengl instructions, whether it is a simple glxgears or a game full of shaders. I tried to disable AIGLX but this didn't help. Also I tried to disable VideoOverlay but this didn't help either.

I noticed, that when the kernel hangs, I stops responding on any event except Alt+SysRq+B. And sometimes, after pressing that, the pc wakes up for a millisecond before immidiate reboot. Music starts playing, the pointer moves and so on. So, I think that only GPU hangs, not CPU. I heard there is a feature called VPURecovery on windows, which might be helpfull in this situation. Has ATI any plans on providing this feature to us?

    My pc : Ubuntu 7.10, Radeon 9600XT, Athlon 1800xp, VIA KT400 motherboard.

    Memory leaks in fglrx 8.1

    Dear boarders,
I'm experiencing memory leaks even with latest driver from ATI. My workstation keeps increasing memory consumption to the point that it becomes unstable at end of the day becouse it is out of memory.

The problem develops much faster when usin WINE: almost 1 MB per minute!

Otherwise the driver is fine, Dual display 1650X1050 & 1440x900 works, 3D, video, Compiz (I do not use it).

    Somebody else has this problem?

    My config is: Ubuntu 7.10 amd64, kernel 2.6.22-14 generic, Athlon 4800 64X2 , 2GB ram, chipset nForce570, Ati HD2400pro
