Look at the time (and redesigns) it took AMD between announcing to support opensource, and the current status of brand new GPU working almost flawlessly out-of-the-box on Mesa with performance comparable to other OSes.

Nvidia reaching the same opensource support by 2030 earliest.

Nvidia is also a software company and has the money to do it so prob 2026-27.
Wont buy Nvidia card because all the anticonsumer shit they do, even if the tech is good.
