for me nothing has changed:

1618 frames in 5.0 seconds = 323.470 FPS
1816 frames in 5.0 seconds = 363.040 FPS
1835 frames in 5.0 seconds = 366.896 FPS
1804 frames in 5.0 seconds = 360.609 FPS
1835 frames in 5.0 seconds = 366.918 FPS
1858 frames in 5.0 seconds = 371.464 FPS
1839 frames in 5.0 seconds = 367.703 FPS
i compiled mesa from git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/mesa/mesa
any suggestions ?

This bug lasted for a hole year, maybe more(since ubuntu 8.04).I couldn't play the only few old games that I enjoy(counter-stike, starcraft, heroes III) and so i went back to windows.Maybe by 2010 fedora or ubuntu will have galium 3d and all the problems will be fixed(I ended to hope for decent linux video support a while ago).
If linux wants to be a serious competitor to other OSes things will have to be done right, not half way through,(just look at the sound and the audio jungle that is linux).
The hole concept of freedom is good but when you can't watch videos at decent performance, or listen to 2 sound streams Linux can't be called a desktop os.
