I recently bought this CPU, and are experiencing the exact same issues. Have anyone tried the Ubuntu 15.10 alpha? Issue still present there? Works in Fedora for me too, but I like Ubuntu

I followed your advice to replace Ubuntu with Fedora 22 on a custom build I did and have been rewarded with a nice stable system for about a month. Yesterday, I upgraded to to fedora 23, and it looks like some weirdness is setting in. Gnome doesn't freeze nearly as often as it did, but still does. Mainly when I use the tweak tool or sun certain docker commands, or when browsing remote file systems with nautilus. Gnome freezes and I see this in my kernel log:

[drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

The system comes back to life after the screen blanks locks. I log back in and all my applications are have been shut down.

There was a GNOME 3 updated today, to GNOME Shell 3.18.1. So far today not a single lockup.
