I actually have gentoo in a chroot on SD card in my LG volt... RAM is tight with only 1GB but I was able to make it self-rebuild all the base gentoo software...

There are some awful things* you can do with assembly macros, and sometimes for bare metal stuff you end up with things at weird alignments/positions...
