these people google/chrome and mozilla/firefox have a strategic reason to only support AV1/AVIF and AV2/AVIF2
and the reason is not to decode 1 picture to display 1 picture on the monitor the reason is million over million of pictures analysed by AI

and evil companies like Apple who are member of the evil MPEG LA of course want to sapotage open and open-source and free standards thats is the reason why they use stuff like JXL to sapotage real open standards like AVIF...

no sane person of the free software community should give these evil people like apple any finger. not a single cent.

keep in mind apple themself try to sapotage AV1 as well apple M1 has no AV1 decode or encode unit. also apple M2 again does not have AV1 encode/decode ... and apple M3 gas only AV1 decode and no encode support.

and apple M4 again has only AV1 decode and no encode... so MPEG LA members like apple clearly sapotage the AV1 standard and they want to sapotage AVIF as well

analyzed by aI? its just that right now AI performance with AVIF is faster because of hardware acceleration

and jXL does not have hardware acceleration in the SOCs and CPUs and GPUs and NPUs

JXL is fast enough that it does't need to have hwacceleration, AVIF in many cases as well, however even if it *was* the case that has zero bearings what so ever on browsers. who's primary concern is images which are suitable for webpages in which JXL is far superior to AVIF.

browsers are like the Kronos group they set the standard for the industry
like kronos does it with vulkan and openGL...

and google/chrome Mozilla/firefox they clearly use their marketshare power against evil MPEG LA members like apple.

so it does not matter if jXL is great as long as apple and other evil companies in the MPEG LA sabotage open and free standards google/mozilla will always in return sabotage the standards MPEG LA members want.

its logically i would do the same... its AV1/AVIF and AV2/AVIF2 or nothing.

that doesn't even make sense. name in at least two ways that JXL is "Evil", ill just assume the first one is ISO spec costing money, (despite many other open specifications costing money, like the core tech of the container that AVIF uses)

JXL of course is not evil its the people who want jXL ... any MPEG LA member like apple is on the blacklist.

see this : "The Apple browser Safari has supported JPEG XL since version 17. Version 0.9.0 of JPEG XL was released in December 2023."

the MPEG LA members implement jXL in their browsers.

i am pretty sure they have some submarine patents they want to enforce later.

Jpeg-XL is in the same licensing situation that AV1/AVIF is

To try to somewhat mitigate this patent troll risk, for jxl we did the following things:
                  • try very hard not to put any known patent-encumbered or potentially patent-encumbered thing in the spec (besides patents we filed ourselves)
                  • defensively patent stuff related to jxl just so we can explicitly grant a universal license to anyone. This serves two purposes: (compared to not patenting anything in the first place)
                    1. makes it harder for anyone else to claim patents relevant to jxl
                    2. a defensive clause that revokes the license in case someone else litigates, so if a patent troll makes claims on jxl, Google/Cloudinary can counter-sue them

If you or your agent or exclusive licensee institute or
order or agree to the institution of patent litigation against any
entity (including a cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging
that this implementation of JPEG XL or any code incorporated within this
implementation of JPEG XL constitutes direct or contributory patent
infringement, or inducement of patent infringement, then any patent
rights granted to you under this License for this implementation of JPEG XL
shall terminate as of the date such litigation is filed.
Even if MPEG-LA did have patents, any attempt at enforcing them would disallow apple from continuing to use JXL.

JXL licencing is in the exact same situation that AVIF is, JXL spec availibility is in the exact same situation that AVIF is due to the container it uses, JXL offers technologies that would be deemed more important under a web or personal use case, as well as scientific use cases.

0k now i get why no one with a sane mind want jXL... i would never use Patented stuff like jXL who the patent owner can revoke the granted patent license.

we see us again in 20 years when all the jXL patents run out and are free now.

i am sure firefox and google chrome will add jXL in 20 years.

same with h264... people add support for it 20 years later means in 2026...
