    Sorry for the late reply, but you are missing that you have to use tons of unsafe blocks for all the syscalls. With this mature and slow moving codebase I don't think there are many vulnerabilities compared to uutils. Uutils is still suspect to 30% of the security vulnerabilities (aka bugs) plus to a lesser extend bugs in the unsafe wrapping of the necessary syscalls.

    Have you considered this in your assessment of risks?
