    Most use cases of SDL is to provide platform abstractions for custom renderers or engines so it doesn't really matter that SDL_Renderer doesn't support Vulkan. It already has backends for most important platforms - Direct3D for Windows, Metal for macOS and OpenGL/OpenGL ES for Linux and others.

    Sure I'm not saying that it shouldn't provide Vulkan backend but I'm just saying that it's probably not the most important thing now.
