    I guess this is the flip-side of companies not following standards. Everyone creates their own API, which then need to get wrapped in a single API by someone else...

    Still FFMpeg is the "gold standard API" for media these days. It supports everything...

      I agree in theory, but if everybody followed one standard only, we'd never have advancement. That being said, I wish more of these standards were round-table discussions rather than a single large company forcing something new on us.
