In PHP 7.3A2 there has been done some optimizations with escaping json data (json_encode()...). I did a simple benchmark using a Xeon W-2145 (Ubuntu 18.04).
7.2.5: 5.91s
7.3.0A1: 5.40s
7.3.0A2: 3.56s
