MeeGo-Successor Tizen Is Still Vaporware

Moblin was (more or less) vaporware, Maemo was vaporware, Meego was (more or less) vaporware. Why would you expect any different from Tizen?

Exactly. No one believes in Tizen, not even the Linux Foundation. I'm not even sure why did they decide to kill Meego. There is something that is not convincing me in this story. Sounds like its all a big fat bullshit vaporware. I'm very disappointed from the Meego story.

In fact there were some high profile NIH in OSS, like Gtk+, WebKit, Apache Harmony, LLVM, XFCE, a lot of music players like Banshee.

That's a very curious list. Webkit is a fork of KHTML, which was started before Netscape code was made open-source, and it was far superior during the early years. Then it stagnated somewhat before being picked up by Apple. And GTK is really an old toolkit, with GTK+ being just C++ bindings.

gtkmm has c++ bindings. gtk+ is still C. gtk is dunno, perhaps sth totally different.

Shortly after they announced the tizen crapoware thing, intel announced support for ANDROID. They are/have given up the idea of partnering with some other entity to develop something that HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE. Tizen isn't going anywhere. There is nothing IN IT for intel -- or anybody else except those who came up with tizen to start with. Might as well accept THE dominant open source platform and play nice already. That's all Intel **CAN** do, otherwise their hardware will fade away into irrelevance.
