I believe this expensive crap is not targeted at real developers to begin with. Think of it and transpose the offering to something else like a guitar, a camera or whatever. You can find tons of overpriced "pro" guitars, "pro" cameras, "pro" whatevers, but professional guitarists, professional photographers and professional whateverists would never bother looking at those.

Now consider those crowds of wannabes that feel a bit more "pro" if they used "pro" gear, in every field, from IT to photography, to music and whatever. They've several things in common: they've no clue about what it takes to become real professionals, they just throw money at it because they believe that way they're playing on the safe side, they like it because it's cool, the buy it because someone told them it's "professional" and because they do not even know Phoronix existed: Dell is targeting them, not us.

Lots of smartphones out there have a "pro" camera. Ever seen a professional photographer take professional pictures with a smartphone?
