EA games pledged it support for Meego (which is based on standard freedesktop.org architecture), which gives a bit of hope they will release games not only for mobiles, but also for desktops. I wonder if Valve gonna beat them.

Steam beta for mac is here -> http://www.mediafire.com/?nn3lmjvnmie
If you extract this dmg file (with poweriso), you can see that steam.sh script has linux support, but there's no linux binary file on this dmg file (logical, this is only for mac).
We must wait

Here we go again...
There will be NO steam client for Linux EVER. The graphics drivers on Linux are poorly optimized and horribly fragmented. If Valve are going to spend the $$ on R&D they would at least want a stable platform and I am afraid Linux just doesn't cut it in that area.

My guess? Steam client for Linux will be released when the new UI goes out of beta, or when the Mac release is released.

* I could point out that if you have a decent graphics card, such as nVidia or ATI [especially nVidia], large chunks of the binary driver code is shared between Windows and Linux and as a result, the performance will most likely be fairly close.
I could also point out that if you cannot use blob drivers, you're most likely using some on-board GPU (GMA xxx) that will perform just as bad under Linux as it does under Windows.
But I'll be wasting my time, as you're obviously trolling.oVirt-HV1: Intel S2600C0, 2xE5-2658V2, 128GB, 8x2TB, 4x480GB SSD, GTX1080 (to-VM), Dell U3219Q, U2415, U2412M.
