Codeberg is just a hosting provider using Gitea as far as I'm aware. Not that there's anything wrong with Gitea, I host my own instance and am quite happy with it, but Gitea is all about being lightweight and simple, Gitlab has a lot more features.

PublicNuisance and luno : I occasionally use codeberg too. I'm curious: can you tell me how codeberg is faster than github and gitlab? (I know github is microsoft).

The tech stack behind Codeberg is Gittea which is faster/ lightweight and can even run in Pi

AFAIK you can do all the integrations as well, though, with dedicated CI infrastructure? I haven't tried yet, but I'd really love to hear someone with more than Homeserver experience one both to share their experience. Here we had many issues with GitLab and it annoys the hell out of me. I'd like to move to Gitea but I'm not sure how feasible this is.

Yes, there are tons of addons and integrations for Gitea. I run a few, including some UI extensions and a local Drone instance to provide CI/CD for example. It's a bit of a hassle to set everything up though, so I can see why major projects just want something that works and comes with most of the features they need out of the box. And the integration isn't as neat, of course. The Gitea interface only tells me Drone's basic status, I have to go to Drone's own web interface for details.

GOGS is pretty good for simple local deployments. Light enough to run on a Pi 1 even, at reasonable speed too.
