Phoronix: LGP Is Now Porting Shadowgrounds: Survivor

Nearly a year ago we reported on two new games coming to Linux: Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds: Survivor. These games were developed by Frozenbyte, a relatively unheard of Finnish game studio, and both are third person shooters with a sci-fi setting. These two games were supposed to be released for Linux (they are already available for Windows platforms) by last Spring, but that never came to fruition...

Wow amazing. So are they going to start the porting attempts from scratch, or are they gonna reuse some of the work that the original porting company did? And why did IGIOS just dropped the porting efforts?

For several months, LGP has been working behind the scenes with Finnish developer Igios to bring you Shadowgrounds Survivor, sequel to the award-winning Shadowgrounds

Whoa... Jumping the gun a bit, aren't we?

As Aradreth pointed out, LGP was working with them, providing resources to port the thing and just wasn't going to announce until it was much closer to being ready for beta testing.

Is that game using a well known engine or something game specific?

I think frozenbyte made its own engine for that game. BTW, anyone know if the original game, Shadowgrounds, will be ported too?
