just to help if you don't know, on debian you can install the libtxc-dxtn-s2tc0 package to enable S2TC

Wine have to be FIXED.
Mesa include S3TC support _without_ the need of an external lib anylonger.
S3TC is _included_ into Mesa since the patent expired last year.

I wonder if this is why Just Cause 1 stopped working for me (Fury X, Mesa 18.1.0). I switched back to Wine 3.0 and it was running again. Yet to run a regression test to Just pinpoint the Cause.
