Phoronix: Glibc 2.23 Released With Many Changes

glibc and other essential libraries have been neglected for over a decade, so it's about time they get some attention.

This "big" security blunder is taken totally out of proportions. Most modern CPUs and operating systems have NX Bit enabled for exactly these kinds of bugs, which will prevent arbitrary code execution. This may not be the case for all embedded systems though. Luckily Phoronix did not participate in misleading people this time.

Just the same, it's good that bugs like this actually get fixed in the library as some platforms aren't lucky to have something like the NX bit. Seems the glibc team's now getting on the ball in keeping this essential library in shape.
