The KDE Free Qt Foundation has a standing agreement that if no feature release of an open-source Qt happens within a certain time limit, Qt gets released under a permissive BSD license. Originally that agreement only covered the X11 version of Qt. Recently it was extended to the Android version as well. Now, however, it has been further extended to include Windows, Windows Phone, Mac Os X, and iOs. Further, successors to existing platfroms (like Wayland) can be included under the agreement without the Qt Company having to agree. On top of that, the Qt Commercial components will be released under a GPL license.
