  • More GCC Optimisation Benchmarks?

Hi Michael, (I hope you get to see new topics on the forums),

First time poster, having just finally subscribed to phoronix premium (after many years of viewing), to help support this great site. You provide an awesome service to the communitry - keep up the good work!

Now a request: I wondered if it would be possible to see some more GCC optimisation benchmarks, like this article in 2012, but something like the lastest GCC 5.3.0 vs 4.9.3, maybe 6 as well? Perhaps on a selection of different CPUs too (i.e. an older haswell vs. a newer skylake, and maybe a latest AMD cpu too)?

I appreciate these are probably be pretty time consuming to set-up and run, but I think many people on these forums (please post below to show your support for this request) would really appreciate the effort and would like to see these results too.

    Cheers,

Sure thing, can post some new ones soon. THough mostly from newer CPus since that's where there is more optimization potential.

Also here are some related tests from this year if you missed out on them: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...-Fresh-Clang-O http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...15.10-GCC-Opts

Awesome - thanks Michael, look forward to seeing them (though I would still like to see one or two older generations of processor on there for comparison).
