What about creative x-fi front panel support??

actually the front panel microphone does not work, connect headphones to the front panel, the rear outputs are not muted
when they go to solve this problem?

Is there a bug report for this?

I was just wondering if there were any fixes for ctxfi there as well.

Mind you, my front panel works flawlessly, I use it all the time (though not the microphone). Yes, the outputs aren't muted, but I see that as a feature rather than a bug (you can turn off your audio equipment; also, there should be an option for this in alsamixer/pavucontrol, although I have my card set to stereo output only so I haven't checked that setting for a while).

Pulseaudio does support running different audio streams to different outputs simultaneously... That's something I've only ever done once, though, there aren't many usecases for it as far as I can tell.

How is bit-perfect audio on Linux?
Playback without mixing, upmixing, downmixing, upsampling, downsampling, resampling, etc. Pure, unmodified, untouched audio?

            Also how is low-latency audio?

You should use alsa diretly instead of pulseaudio to get bit-perfect. Using only alsa you will get a good low latency too, but for that a better way is to use Jack instead.

You can create combined sinks in PA, so having output to multiple streams would be redundant.

If you guys could please share some how-to/tutorial on the internet that'd be great. Pulseaudio still confuses me compared to Windows.

Depends on your use case. Personally I like to stream Mumble, Radiotray + game to my headphones and Youtube to the speakers. That way I only have to mute the headphones to get undistracted Youtube viewing.

@Vidar: Do you have pavucontrol installed? It's fairly straight forward manipulating sound streams with that.
