Looking at ellcc.org's SVN browser, I see that ELLCC 0.0.1 was released on August 2.
Rich Pennington has made several changes since phoronix last covered this project; among them, he switched from using his own port of the netbsd libc to using a modified version of musl libc (see etalabs.net/musl for that).
He's been porting musl to several new cpus in the process; his mips32 port was recently merged into upstream musl, and musl 0.9.3 (just released) is the first to use that.
