Phoronix: Theora 1.1 Thusnelda Is Released
Theora, the open and royalty-free format that comes from the same folks that work on the Ogg audio formmat, has officially reached version 1.1. Theora 1.1 (codenamed "Thusnelda") is much-improved over version 1.0, which was reached last November. Some of the improvements in the Theora 1.1 encoder include rate-distortion optimization, better motion search, adaptive quantization, a real rate-control module, support for 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 video, and many more changes.
