SUSE Working On Upstream Linux Kernel Support For Booting The Raspberry Pi 5
Pi foundation needs to drop Broadcom and use a more FOSS friendly ARM SOC.
The CEO Eban Upton used to work as a director for Broadcom. I don't see a change happening. The chip used is decided by the for-profit company Raspberry Pi, not the foundation so a change would need to be more profitable than Broadcom.
