The benchmarks presented are quite meaningless. 8 parallel fio jobs with 4K transfer size is not what a realistic workload looks like. What really matters as a desktop metric is the time to start an application from the cold state, and I know that Phoronix did such benchmarks in the past. So - why was this type of benchmark not used this time?

You could also set an empty passphrase, reconfigure LUKS to try an empty passphrase before asking for it, and measure the time it takes to reboot the laptop.
